Descripció
A book that studies Spanish art of the Modern Age ''in the first person'', that is, through the eyes and opinions of its protagonists. Among them, the artists themselves, who were more and more inclined to include personal information in their works.
Through self-portraits, portraits of their colleagues and artistic allegories, the reader can get an insight into what El Greco, Velázquez, Zurbarán, Murillo and Goya thought about themselves and the nature of their art. And through the writings of Lope de Vega, Paravicino, Calderón and Jovellanos, the reader will come into contact with the expectations generated by works of art in the society for which they were created.
