It approaches obesity from a multidimensional perspective, combining methodologies of biomarkers, imaging, body composition, and functionality, both of fat mass and muscle mass. It offers in-depth reflection, knowledge, vision, and tools to successfully address the CMAD underlying the chronic pathologies that are encountered in daily clinical practice. It aims to optimize the methodology, define cutoff points, incorporate evidence into clinical practice guidelines, establish treatment outcomes, and their relationship to morbidity and mortality. Currently, we understand obesity as a pathological state caused by an excess of body fat, which underestimates the multidimensionality of the problem. The concept of Chronic Metabolic Adipose Disease (CMAD) better addresses the need to define obesity as a complex, heterogeneous, chronic disease that varies in its pathophysiology, progression, and response to the different therapeutic strategies used.
