Jöel Dicker és un dels autors més joves i reeixits dels últims anys. Les seves novel·les són traduïdes a més de 30 idiomes. Encara que amb dinou anys va publicar el seu primer relat en francès titulat Le Tigre (2005), no va ser fins a 2010 i amb vint-i-cinc anys quan es va donar a conèixer al gran públic en guanyar el Premi dels Escriptors Ginebrins amb la seva primera novel·la publicada Els últims dies dels nostres pares (2010).

Uns anys més tard, va publicar La veritat sobre el cas Harry Quebert (2013), obra amb la qual es va iniciar en el mercat literari en castellà i amb la qual es va convertir en un escriptor de best-sellers internacional. Des de llavors, ha publicat El llibre dels Baltimore (2016), El tigre (2017), La desaparició de Stephanie Mailer (2018) i L’enigma de l’habitació 622 (2020).
